Health Benefits of this Recipe

Hemp seeds are a wonderful source of plant based protein and omega-3 fatty acids. The use of nutritional yeast provides a dairy free ‘cheesy’ flavour and texture. Nutritional yeast is also packed with B vitamins to support energy levels. Many store bought pesto’s contain canola oil, instead we have used our superfood extra virgin olive oil as a base.


  • ½ cup pinenuts
  • ¼ cup hemp seeds
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast –
  • 1 bunch basil (stems removed)
  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil


1. Place all ingredients into your blending or food processor

2. Blend/process until mixture is well blended but there is still some texture.

Tips & Notes

If you like a thinner consistency gradually add more olive oil and continue blending until desired consistency is achieved.
